Our Story: How JEME was born

On November 17th, 1988, eight students from Bocconi University founded JEME Bocconi (Junior Enterprise Milano Economia), inspired by a trip to France and international experiences. The founders aimed to bridge Bocconi's academic prestige with quality business consulting services. This legacy of excellence has continued ever since.

1993 – 1999

The Beginnings

During the 1990s, JEME experienced rapid expansion in membership and capacity. In 1996, JEME hosted Italy's first JADE Congress. The 1997 "Zamagni" law allowed JEME to re-enter the NGO category. By 1998's 10-year anniversary, turnover reached 250 million lire, validating JEME's commercial consulting identity.

2000 – 2007

New Challenges

The new millennium brought continued membership growth and 400 million lire in turnover. JEME adopted the "training as remuneration" philosophy and relocated to Via San Francesco d'Assisi 3 within Bocconi's campus. Recognition included the 2004 European Excellence Award as "Most Entrepreneurial Junior Enterprise" and in 2005, JEME representatives were elected to presidency positions at both JADE Italia and JADE.

2008 – 2014

Reinvention

JEME's 20th anniversary was marked by an event at Palazzo Bocconi and publication of the first JEME Book. July 2010 brought the Junior Enterprise World Conference (JEWC) to Milan, reinforcing JEME's international reputation. Post-JEWC, JEME increased active sales to over 15 projects annually while strengthening its focus on human capital development.

2015 – 2017

Recent Changes

This period focused on service development, network leadership, and organisational institutionalisation. JEME sponsored Australia's first Junior Enterprise and partnered with North America's inaugural venture. Awards included the 2015 "Most Entrepreneurial Junior Enterprise in Europe," followed by "Best Junior Enterprise in Italy" and European runner-up. In 2017, JEME organised JADE's summer conference in Milan, hosting over 300 Junior Entrepreneurs.

2018 – Today

Until Today

JEME's 30th anniversary in 2018 was celebrated at Bocconi University's Aula Magna Gobbi with approximately 400 attendees. JEME placed second in "JADE Enterprise of the Year" for three consecutive years. In 2019, JEME supported JECO's launch at Copenhagen Business School. By 2023's 35th anniversary at Palazzo Mezzanotte (Borsa Italiana headquarters), JEME had cultivated over 650 alumni and 45 trained members.
